Family Volunteering Opporunities – Thailand

Thailand Family Volunteering Opportunities

Girl at Children's Home

Now the entire family can come and enjoy the vibrant culture and serene beauty of Chiang Mai, while also doing something meaningful. Volunteering as a family will give you many opportunities to not only contribute to the betterment of society, but also to share the adventures that naturally occur when staying in a different country. The cultural exchanges and real-life education will be the fodder of dinnertime conversations for years to come. Whether you’re washing elephants in the stream or helping a five year old orphan decide if green is the right color for coloring in his truck, your shared experiences will create a photo album of memories that will never fade.

Volunteer Thailand Orientation - City Tour 20

The city of Chiang Mai offers a wide variety of family-friendly activities, as does the outlying province. There is the Chiang Mai Zoo, featuring the great pandas and the glass-ceilinged aquarium, the Night Safari and the Tiger Kingdom. Or you can take the family for a relaxing Thai lunch in the floating bamboo huts at the local lake, Huay Tung Thao. Chiang Mai is known for being a slow, relaxed and safe city, as well as being easy to get around in. In addition, it has every amenity that you or our family members could need, from top-rate hospitals to sporting complexes complete with Olympic size swimming pools.

Elephant Camp Family Volunteer Project

Volunteer and Intern in Thailand

Who can ever forget the first time they see a live elephant? That initial shock of gray enormity followed by the warm depth of those brown eyes. And the expression of a child gazing at an elephant, be it for the first time, or the twentieth, is also something not soon forgotten. Now you and your entire family can have these experiences together. As volunteers, the whole family can take part in the feeding and care of these remarkable animals, as well as interacting with the mahouts (elephant keepers and trainers) who not only work with the animals, but also live in a village nearby. The village is populated with people from a variety of hill tribes and it is the ideal opportunity for children to play and interact with other children from a variety of cultures.

Orphanage Family Volunteer Project

Children's Home Picture

As a family, what better way to gain a greater appreciation for what you have together than by volunteering to help those without? Volunteer at the orphanage and play with, care for and help the children who haven’t been so lucky. As a part of the orphanage community, your family will participate in a variety of day to day activities that will make everything for those children just a little bit better, while at the same time providing all of you with an education not only in culture, but in life itself.
